Afther Rome abandoned the area northeast of the limes the tribes started fighting against each other again the way they had been doing this before.
Nevertheless – without this single event most likely there would be no west germanic languages today. No Goethe, no Shakespeare. Somebody else in annother romanic language perhaps. We will never know.

The ideai of rebelling against the romans seemed somehow suicidal but Hermann took courage to do something against their oppresion because he knew what he was doing. Having been inside the roman box he knew their weakness and limitations.
